POLICIES

I know policies are no fun, but they’re necessary to ensure things run smoothly for everybody! Below are policies that are in line with the standard practices followed by music schools throughout the country and congruent with the standards held by the Music Teachers National Association. If you have any questions about any of the policies below or questions about things you think I’ve left out, feel free to contact me!

**PLEASE BE ADVISED: STUDENTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST HAVE A PARENT/GUARDIAN HOME FOR THE ENTIRE DURATION OF THE LESSON**

SICK POLICY

Effective Immediately- If your child and/or teacher are showing any symptoms of illness, your lesson (in-person only) will be canceled and may choose to reschedule as an online lesson for a different day/time.

CANCELLATIONS/MISSED LESSONS

Cancellation of a lesson must be made AT LEAST 24 HOURS prior to the scheduled lesson time to receive a make-up lesson. This includes leaving messages via Phone, Text, or Email. No-shows or failure to notify your teacher within 24 hours is considered a forfeited lesson. If you know of dates ahead of time where you/your child cannot make a lesson, please notify your teacher when booking/paying for your lessons. There are NO refunds on canceled lessons.

MAKEUP LESSONS

Although I will do my best to schedule makeups, there is no guarantee of a makeup for missed lessons, so it’s always best to attend your regularly scheduled lesson.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY- All makeup lessons will be rescheduled as online lessons on the last Friday of every month

Makeup lessons are offered when a student gives at least 24 HRS notice before a cancellation. If a scheduled makeup lesson is cancelled, another makeup option will not be offered. Lessons that are missed without 24 HRS notice or are “no shows” will not be offered a makeup lesson. In addition, should a last-minute cancellation be received for a makeup lesson, a $15 FEE will be ADDED to your account.

TEACHER CANCELLATION

If your teacher cancels a lesson and is unable to reschedule your lesson time, we will skip over that week’s lesson and resume the following week. All payments will be pushed forward to compensate for the missed lesson.

TERMINATION OF LESSONS

If the student terminates lessons, a minimum of 30 days advanced notification must be given. If the student with less than 30 days advance notice terminates lessons, the full amount of the tuition is due and payable for that period of 30 days.

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Required Materials:   Must have access to a fully functional and well-tuned piano or full-sized weighted keyboard or digital piano for daily practice. Students should bring all the music books to each lesson. Additional materials (piano book bag, metronomes, music, flash cards) may also be recommended.
  • Practice Expectations: A student’s progress is determined by dedicated practice, not by simply attending lessons. Ideally, students should practice at least 3-4 days a week. Specific amounts of practice time are not assigned to each student. Instead, students should practice long enough to complete their weekly assignment.
